Glittery and seductive, beads add elegance and dimension to your knitting. You will learn two ways to add beads, how to read charts, and where and when to add beads to virtually any lace pattern. We’ll discuss how to choose the best beads for your project, plus tips and tricks to make your beading adventures pleasant and efficient.
Skill Level: Intermediate to advanced
Technique: Comfortable with knit and purl stitches, knowledge of long-tail cast-on.
Materials: 1 skein Detour Mini or comparable smooth and sturdy sock yarn, US1 needles (US2 if you knit very tightly), crochet hook, several stitch markers. Please bring or plan to purchase during class: size .75mm or smaller crochet hook or beading tool. Beads for class samples will be provided. Please bring reading glasses if necessary.
Gauge: Not important for class; depends on pattern chosen.
Homework: Using the long-tail method, cast on 14. Rows 1-3: work garter stitch. Row 4: K 2, purl to last 2 sts, k2. Keep work on needles and bring to class.
Fee: $45 Beads for class sample included.
