There’s a reason that Punch Needle Embroidery has taken Etsy, Pinterest and Instagram by storm, in fact, there are many reasons!
1- It’s super easy!
2- It’s super fun!
3- It’s fast!
4- Teeny tiny rug hooking!
5- Endless design possibilities...
and there are so many more great reasons to learn this classic craft. The other cool thing about Punch Needle, is that you can start small (with the embroidery sized tool), and work your way up to the large rug hooking version, they work the same way. In this class, we’ll be starting small with the Cameo Ultra Punch that works with fine yarns and embroidery threads. I’ll teach you how to stretch your backing, transfer your design and how to thread and punch with the needle. I’ll provide a variety of templates to choose from to create an adorable piece of art that you can hang up with pride. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can design your own (using the color palette provided). The Ultra Punch is a great little tool because it allows a variety of loop heights to add texture and fine detail to your design. Once you’ve mastered the technique, you might find your self Punch Needle punchy and be ready to start making full sized rugs!
Templates, backing fabric and yarn will be provided in class.
Materials: Cameo Ultrapunch size large, 9" non-slip hoop - both can be purchased at Gauge.
